Sentai (Five Man) Series History and Toy Robots.

Starting in 1975, Japan saw multicolored five man teams battling rubber monsters- Sentai Series shows. Often the heroes thwarted evil empires invading the Earth. Later, sentai shows to include super robots, and then additional machines to power up.
1975 marked the production company Toei's first Sentai show. While some earlier programs used a lot of sentai concepts, Himitsu Sentai Goranger(1975) is considered the first sentai show. JAKQ Dengekitai(1977) followed and then there was a one year stop in production. Then in 1979 Toei created the show Battle Fever J which started the Super Sentai series and began the current theme of including robots.
